ACCREDITATION process

Stage One - Keel Laying

  • ISO 45001 compliant management system in Place and Verified*
  • Completion of a Needs assessment with your Njord Mark account manager
  • Action Plan agreed


*Third party accreditation not required.  Compliant organisations are at liberty to self declare, as is normal practice; in these circumstances, a confirmatory Wellship audit would be required (provided by a qualified ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor authorised by Njord Mark Ltd

Stage Two - Fit Out

  • Wellship Captain and Chief Engineer appointed and trained (eg. DPA & Superintendents)
  • Workforce consultation period & pulse survey
  • Shipboard Development Plans Completed
  • Data points and metrics identified

Stage Three - Commissioning

  • Audit
  • Benchmarking and problem solving
  • Alignments and Corrective Actions Agreed

Stage Four - Passage Planning

Management review and Wellship Kaizen Event

Communication of Wellship and company goals and objectives with entire workforce

Stage Five - Launch

Njord Mark Awards Committee reviews submitted evidence to support an application for formal accreditation

Award Grades

 Businesses may be granted:


  • Wellship Quality Mark
  • Wellship With Merit*
  • Wellship With Distinction**


*   Minimum 2 years evidence of quarterly achievements of both leading and lagging metrics

** Minimum 2 years evidence of quarterly achievements of both leading and lagging metrics & >90%  Satisfaction rating in the Employee Safety and Wellness Engagement Survey sustained over the 2 year period


Exceptional submissions may be considered for Flagship status at the discretion of the awards committee.
